Default Controling the Economy with Festivals

As I sat on the center ring of Nine Rings this weekend, I had time to think of many things. One thought that came to my mind was that Anet was removing a lot of gold from the economy in exchange for lucky points. I know it personally cost me at least 20k, multiply that amount times whatever amount of all who were trying to get even a Lucky 1 title it comes out to millions. Please let me know if this seems to make any sense or is ti just an hallucination caused by Nine Rings.

All the games like 9 rings are a money sink. You will always lose more then you win.

It does make me wonder if they monitor some stats to trigger the events though.

if total liquid gold in the economy > 50 billion then schedule a boardwalk event

or stats like that. It definitely is their gold to drain gold out of the economy, though. Between this and look scaling, maybe we'll see most items drop under 100k.

To get to the first tier of Lucky and Unlucky this weekend, it cost me 65K (yes, I have bad luck).

I absolutely think you're right Risky Ranger...it's a very convenient way to remove millions (possibly billions) of gold from the economy. Needless to say, I probably won't be contributing to the gold sink for the next festival.

I spend 100k each time the boardwalk opens. That's my "entertainment" budget for my GW characters.

Ditto - I dropped 100K on 9 rings this weekend as well. 400K Lucky tickets now!

Shing Jea should be good to install moving sidewalks and supply free drinks with the gold it's brought in over this weekend.

If it weren't for these 'grinds' as people call them, we'd definately have way too much gold in the economy.
